Welcome to our website

What does VIP mean?

VIP means visually impaired people.

Andover VIP's is an active local charity run by visually impaired members assisted by a dedicated team of sighted volunteers.

What do we do?

We provide some exciting activities such as an active social club, regular day outings, lunch clubs, and recreational and educational classes. For the sport minded members we can even provide bowling, swimming and armchair exercises!

Our latest news - Launch of Line dancing classes.

A group of VIPs decided to take to the dancing floor. An excellent tutor from Hedge End, Mike Towgood has joined us to provide tuition and enthusiasm. We are grateful to Test Way Housing Moneybox Fund for sponsoring this activity. This is a pilot scheme and if successful, this activity will continue on a regular basis.

A CENTURY FOR IVY!!!

Our eldest member Ivy Shelton was 100 years old on 30 January. She was born and bred in Andover and became an optician. She was the first lady to own and ride a motorbike in 1929, aged 21.

She won a donkey many years and it lodged at Andover zoo and is now the Hawk Conservancy. She still has fond connection with the Smith family from the Hawk Conservancy. She lives in a local nursing home and still remains a member of the Andover VIPs.

We hope you enjoy this website, we look forward to hearing from you!
